I am not even superior to my former self. I’m giving her the energy and grace to exist.

I’m superior to nazis, though.

Lol, came to the comments for this...

I think we actually really, really do need to understand we're better than not just some people, but a lot of people right now.

Kindness is being replaced with cruelty. All those who consider others are far more valuable than those today that prey on the weak.

Snufkin hopeposting is something I don't see very often but it is a welcome surprise nevertheless.

Edit: Fixed spelling.

So many commenters in this thread are tearing down the hope offered by the post with their negativity. Why even enter this community?

I removed those, thanks for pointing it out. If you flag them I'll see them and remove

Because it's not hope. It's twisting words to imply some kind of weird moral superiority.

At a certain point in your life you've turned the other cheek enough times for the same type of people.

I support the message in the abstract but as a commentary on current events I think we're past the luxury of pretending that everyone is working from an equally valid worldview.

There's a certain group of folks who are harming themselves and the rest of us because they are lagging so substantially in their own personal growth, and there's another group of folks that's actively trying to harm us all because of where their personal growth took them. While I may not be inherently superior to either group, I see membership in either as a choice, and they can go fuck themselves. And while that may be a slightly US-centric sentiment right now, I think those same two groups are causing trouble just about everywhere these days.

Wanting to be superior to assholes is lowering the bar. Wanting to be better than you were is raising it. I urge you to raise the bar!

I can do both! I believe in myself!

We can hold the understanding that hurt people hurt people, while also removing them from power. In the Kali mythology, she didn't drink blood from bloodlust, but to prevent the rise to power of more of those ("offspring") who delight in suffering and destruction, to the best of my memory, which may be faulty, it's been a long time since I immersed myself in her mythos. I do find value in the Tao te Ching, as well, chapter 31 would address this. https://github.com/nrrb/tao-te-ching/blob/master/Ursula%20K%20Le%20Guin.md

But hey, that's my personal perspective, obviously not everyone shares it, nor are obligated to it.

There is no wanting... Are you saying you aren't superior to Trump?

I know I'm superior to him. And I hope every single person in this thread feels the same, assuming it's true, of course.

Edit: Snufkin...

What if I’m already superior to others? Do I have to stop?

I haven't seen that yet... I have, however, seen a few people point out that many of us truly are superior to some of the worst examples of humanity we are all facing today.

Pride is not always a bad thing. We should be proud to exude kindness, compassion, and integrity into a world that seems to more and more place value on getting ahead at all costs.

It is not just the self we must improve when we are faced with the degradation of society around us.

Because we want real hope and this post ain’t it, and at some level you know that.
