  • Brush: RazoRock Beehive 28 mm
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn
  • Blade: Derby Premium (half DE)
  • Lather: HAGS - Creatures of the Night (mutton tallow base)
  • Post-Shave: OAM - oli del benessere, sensitive skin toner
  • Passes & Info: 1 pass on both head and neck. Very comfortable shave.

Just another use of the Thorn, this time with a very slick mutton tallow lather. I had some trouble getting a good lather going, but worked it out in the end. The final result was very slick and made for nice shaving.

My first day as an RN was rather uneventful: basically the same work as before. Our higher-ups weren't even present today, as they had to attend some event. So apart from getting a few congratulations - nothing special. Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. But as I got home, I found a letter from the central of the welfare organisation my nursing home belongs to: they invited me to an event at the end of September, where they want to have a meet & greet w/ new trainees and those who successfully finished their degree this year. Sounds nice and I think I should attend; they also want to award the best new nurses, so I guess that's why they didn't just send me an email as usual. We'll see...

Day 1/30 of Side-by-Side Straightember

  • **Brush:**Zenith r/Wetshaving exclusive MOAR BADGER (Silvertip)
  • Razor: BΓΆker – Abalone (6/8", full hollow, carbon steel, French point) 1 mystery mark
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Company – I, Rich Moose (sub-exclusive sheep tallow)
  • Post Shave: Sir – Irisch Moos
  • Fragrance: Sir – Irisch Moos

I have a blind experiment lined up for this month: I've sent @whosgotthepudding@sub.wetshaving.social two identical razors. They were only distinguishable by marks I've made on the tail. He has honed one on jnats and one on synths and I don't know which is which.

I'll be trying both extensively over Straightember and hopefully develop a preference. Then Pudding will reveal which it is.

Starting with the razor with one mark, I used it as is, i.e., without stropping. I can immediately tell why u/whosgotthepudding has his reputation. This edge is delightful! Sharp and smooth, the razor glides through the stubble. I'm looking forward to trying the other one with the same setup tomorrow.

Oh, this experiment! Fun!

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound Raven 26mm V26 Fanchurian
  • Razor: Puma 89 11/16 Full Hollow
  • Lather: The Cajun Blade - Lumberjack Luxury - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
  • Aftershave: The Cajun Blade - Lumberjack Luxury Aftersauce - Aftershave

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

This was my first use of Lumberjack Luxury; a soap and aftershave that arrived during August. I love everything about this set. The scent ticks all the boxes for me and the quality of the soap base and aftershave are excellent.

This Puma razor has an Olympus edge on it. And is only the second razor I've used on that stone. I'm very impressed with the result I received. There's nothing about it I could improve. It will be interesting to see if the stone has more capability in it.

September 1st, 2025: Great

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers - "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Koraat 15/16 Full Hollow - Sub Exclusive 'Moarteen' (8)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Soap
  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Hamami - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Nivea - Sensitive Beard & Face - Balm
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! Leather - EdP

The razor felt SO good. As far as straight razor shaves go, it usually doesn't get any better than this for me. Good stuff.

Mood Indigo is getting low. Maybe less than a week left if I keep using it consistently.

I'm doing a PIF of a Chatillon Lux aftershave. Find it here.

September 1st, 2025

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Nebulagance" - TurnNShave Quartermoon 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Chiseled Face Titanium Legacy Razor
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
  • Lather: Fanzine Saponifications - Caravaggio - Soap
  • Post Shave: Proraso - Red - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber - EdP

This soap base is really good.

I tried out a @sgrdddy@sub.wetshaving.social "slurry lather" and did less time loading with a very wet brush. It worked out surprisingly well -- I'll definitely be experimenting with this some more.

September 1st, 2025

  • Brush: Summer Break Soaps - Ord w/ TnS Quartermoon Synthetic
  • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Brass
  • Blade: Fromm Hair Shaper
  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles - Verdigris - Soap
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles - Top of the World - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Catie's Bubbles - Verdigris - EdP

Finally another great shave. I forgot how quick a DE and a killer base help make the process so enjoyable. Somehow this little tub of soap and perfume made it to my door. I don't feel confident in describing scents, but what I can say is that this that I really like this. If you look up the word Verdigris, imagine that in perfumery form that you (at least me) could wear everyday. Clean, non-offensive, approachable, yet unique and imaginative.
