I was working as a busboy in a small restaurant. The chef asked me over by the oven. He asked me to squat by it as close as possible, then he opened it. I wasn't phased by the steam and heat, mostly because I was expecting it to be hot.
He noticed and said, you'd make a good chef. Then started to train me. I probably owe him a lot in my life even though I no longer work in the industry.
