And we know they chronically lie to cover their tracks… so… that’s the lowest they could drag that number and still make it sound somewhat feasible. Think about that.

That was my first thought... who makes up the other 17%? Journalists and the occasional hamas guy?

They usually go with 'men of military age', which is an age range of 16 to 65, to pad their numbers of Hamas.

That is so rotten but aligns neatly with their whole ethos of “no innocents”

Don’t forget first responders and healthcare workers.

That some significant collateral damage. (cough, cough, genocide)

Sadly this does not include the 100s of thousands of uncounted dead buried under the rubble. The real percentage of civilian casualties is likely even higher than this gruesome number. Israelis are slaughtering the Palestinians at holocaust levels, and it seems they’re just getting started…

I think it's time that we all start calling it the Palestinian Holocaust.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_casualty_ratio#%3A%7E%3Atext=According+to+the+CACE%2C+in%2Cfatalities+in+warfare+in+cities.

Well above the modern average of 50%

Also above the levels of the second intifada.

It's similar to the chechen wars with Russia.

In World War II at civilians constituted 60–67% of casualties,[5] but some sources give a higher estimate. In the Vietnam War, the civilian ratio is estimated at 46[6]–67%.[7] Two studies found civilian ratio was 40% in the Bosnian war.[4] During the Second Intifada, civilians constituted ~70% of Israelis killed by Palestinians and ~60% of Palestinians killed by Israelis.[8] Civilians constituted ~75% and ~65% of all Palestinians killed in the 2008 war and 2014 war, respectively. In the 2023–2025 war, civilians have constituted 68% of those killed by Hamas attacks,[9] and ~80% of those killed by the Israeli invasion.[10][11][12]

Oh God, the AI! Who let the AI into out database? And why the hell did the AI rename all of Hama's into "civilian"? ChatGPT is antisemitic!
