Disturbing the peace laws would like a word

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago (3 children)

A short enough screaming session will almost never be a problem. Scream all you like, just keep moving quickly to new locations.

Id like to subscribe to scream facts.

[–] PumaStoleMyBluff@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Sprint at full speed while screaming, got it!

[–] cabillaud@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

No, just play dead where you screamed and you'll be fine

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 64 points 2 months ago (3 children)

It can be illegal at a lot of places.

Try going to metal concerts tho they usually love that.

[–] EvilFonzy@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

We do! You're more than welcome to join the rest of us venting our frustrations in the pit by screaming bloody murder whenever you feel like it. Sometimes I'll be at the merch table like, "yeah, the blurple swirl vinyl. WHYYYYYY?!! ..and a 2x of the shirt with the bloody logo."

Try going to metal concerts tho they usually love that.

you can even shove people around (in the pit).

Don't punch people though. We'll get security on your ass, even if they're clueless. Surprisingly it happened at a Gorguts show, mosh pit mosh put, and I saw punches flying, looked at the security guy, pointed at the fight and they removed the asshole. back to moshpit fun.

The reason why it's suprising for it to happen at a gorguts show is that I saw them during their "historical tales" period, so I don't think there's much inspiration to try to knock someone's lights out over a retelling of the mongols laying waste to the Baghdad house of wisdom.

Kids are illegal where you live? Why?

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Disrupting the peace / public order is illegal and that does extend to people with children although they usually issue a warning and ask the parents to leave.

[–] Thorry84@feddit.nl 44 points 2 months ago (2 children)

This is very much illegal depending on where you do it. Suddenly screaming in a large crowd has killed people before. A large group of people is just as likely to start a stampede as a large group of any other kind of animal.

Screaming fire in theater doctrine go brr. Also, noise ordinances

[–] dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

You can scream fire in a theater all you want. You only get in trouble if people get hurt. Thats the whole law—you can scream anything you want as long as people dont get harmed

[–] KombatWombat@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

You can definitely be cited for disturbing the peace without injuring anyone.

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's called kids. Kids do that.

[–] PopcornPrincess@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

My first thought too

[–] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.cafe 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If you look marginalised in any way don’t be shocked if they send you straight to psych jail without even giving you opportunity to explain yourself.

[–] troglodyte_mignon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yep, I’ve seen it happen to a homeless lady in a train station where I worked. (Or rather, heard it happen.) And while her shouting was annoying, I’ve always felt very uncomfortable with the way the “issue” was “resolved”...

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Great way to get shot in Murica... too many scaredy cats with guns

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 4 points 2 months ago

Not really. You mostly get shot by being in gang territory or taking your own life intentionally. Obviously there are exceptions. I've never heard of someone getting shot for screaming except maybe by cops.

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 6 points 2 months ago

If you're on private property it could easily get you trespassed though.

Also, the ducks in the park are free.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 months ago

All the comments are saying “well, no, not really” and they’re not wrong, but still, I really like that drawing!
