I'm not complaining about the article, it's a good article, I just wished jxl had become the standard it was supposed to be.

Yeah for sure, but that's standards for you, some worst crap is so widely used that now it's the defacto standard if you like it or not. Like JavaScript for example.

There's a 8 year old bug about missing Firefox Matroska support so it's not as if there's no video compatibility issues, especially if you also consider old and/or embedded versions.
