I got the email to say that my certificate will be ready in a couple of weeks, and that I've met all the requirements (paid up, passed all modules, etc). Then I can include it with my applications instead of just saying "I passed! I swear! Pinky promise!"

Workforce is on to me though, and wants me to find a job service provider. I've heard so many horror stories I don't even know where to start. And I'm still limited by only having my learner's license, I'm still saving up to buy a bunch of bulk lessons. That's all a morning problem though lol.

I was giving death stares to a person taking a very long phone call in the open plan area at co-working, pacing around outside of their office so as to not bother their staff but instead bothering everyone in the open plan area including myself (make it make sense). Doesn't use the phone / scream booths right in front of him. Anyway, he finally got the message from my death stares and said "sorry" and went back into his office to finish the call. That's my win for the day.

My significant win this week is that my hair is looking..actually good. Simple chunky bob for the win. ๐Ÿ’‡

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago

Nice hair can make a big difference to how you feel! My hair is butt length and an absolute PITA, but when it's shiny and behaving, I love it. However, now that I'm swimming 3 x week, I'm thinking about lopping it off.

Got today and tomorrow off work to spend with Minipeelers. Also I have a parcel to collect ๐Ÿ˜ƒI think my balaclava/hood things have arrived (I love those things; I wear them in scarf/snood mode during the day to keep my neck warm and make my apron sit correctly, and pull up the hood if it's extra cold or raining. It's been a winter game changer for me). What to do? I know they want to go to Melbourne Central on one day and an art supply shop at some point. Art supply shops are expensive tho, and I usually wing it with $2 shops where I can get small canvasses and acrylic paints for a fraction of the price.

I really hate waking up in the dark. I think it affects my mood. Need a blue sky day.

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (3 children)

This winter has been extra bluesy for me.

Early mornings definitely don't help.

even tho i had a nightmare of sorts, bad stuff but i figured it out and got away, I have woken up refreshed, not in pain from my back and happy even . I imagine this is how normal people live.

[โ€“] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

Hugs. Enjoy the moment of calm. You deserve it.

Grrrr got my tax return back and as expected, my bloody super deduction is not available and I owe them a huge chunk now AND I'm out of pocket for the substantial amount I deposited... guess I will have to make those phone calls when it's 8am. Not happy Jan. I foresee a lot of "no you need to contact ATO!", "no you need to contact your super fund!" back and forth...

E: and it's been three hours now, 4:30am and I can't get back to sleep. Do they put something in these pizzas?

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

Grrr indeed. Good luck with your obnoxious adulting tasks.

"no one cares who I was until I put on the mask" oooh yeah it's CPAP trial time. Have a full mask to start because thats what I tried at the hospital study and it worked ok. It's pretty cumbersome so I might use the trial period to try others ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด

Haircut achieved while sun was out.

I feel liberated!

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Alright I've finally gotten to play it.

Holy shit it's amazing with high gain!

My hands feel weird moving around with the extra string. I keep making little mistakes, over or under extending my fingers.

It'll take some getting used to, but it's absolutely worth it.

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

Well that's this work week over, i haven't counted down the hours this much in a long time.

Looks like it will take 5-7 working days for both the ATO and super fund to get their stuff organised and both parties are all 'this is weird it's never happened before, this needs escalation (10 minute hold)'. oh well, this is why people get accountants even though this really should've been very straightforward. I've done what I can for now.

On a vaguely related note, really glad that mandatory payday super is kicking in next year. Kinda BS knowing how much is just sitting around not earning interest for 3 months.

I have to finalise my campervan/campsite bookings tomorrow and then it's just a matter of waiting till the end of the month and going on my veeeeeeery badly needed break.

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

Work week ceebs have hit a day earlier than usual.

WFH rest of the week, but the willingness is disappearing

Reminder for people with moles and just any spots on their skin to get a skin check or at least check your skin regularly! Even a pimple looking thing that doesn't go away could be something.

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

Aerogard heavy duty 40% deet picked up yesterday. Not cheap though. 150g 20$ did about 3sqm

Exhibit A. 1 minute after exposure:

B. 45 minutes later (!)

Also lemons (they don't deserve DOOOM)

I think I'm honestly sold on this idea.

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

Oh my god. Stovetop coffee made and itโ€™s fruity and delicious.

Iโ€™m in heaven!

Just read that because of Mecca's new store in Bourke St grand opening, they are shutting down trams going through the Bourke St mall from Russell to Swanston st for four hours on Friday 8 August. I find that pretty appalling they'd do that for a shitty retail store opening

[โ€“] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

my Mecca rantMecca is the epitome of teenage to 20 something year old girls buying an overpriced lip balm because someone on Tik Tok said it was good. Avoid like the plague. I remember when Mecca was tiny and now there's a new brand there every few months. Overpriced bullshit. Especially the skin care. You can get stuff just as good or better from the pharmacy, and it doesn't come in a tiny container for an exorbitant price.

They also have deals with certain brands so they're "Mecca exclusive" in Australia, so people from here miss out on the sales the brands have in other countries.

The three storey store has "coaching", whatever that is, and a naturopath and stuff like that. Why? What happened to makeup, skincare and fragrance?

nearly finished packing, just got to weigh my bags, I think I should be under the limit

[โ€“] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I always wondered about luggage weight limits.. I mean, they don't apply them to people do they? The difference in weight between Mr P and myself is one of our children ๐Ÿ˜†

ugh. Time to climb mount washmore. Since we lost the old place now I have to calculate loads based on best amount of line drying time instead of just flinging it under the carport. Annoying.

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I have a bit of a hybrid situation. I mostly have to keep an eye on the weather, but have room under cover for a clothes airer to do a small amount. But if it's too windy/rainy the rain comes in sideways, and there is not enough room for sheets and things.

I am liking being able to line dry outside though, where I was didn't really have any good drying space and I would dry it indoors on airers. It just smells better when it's been outside, the movement from the wind makes the towels softer, and the wind also carries away more of the dog hair and fluff etc. so I think it ends up cleaner. I've contemplated getting a dryer, but I think I'd prefer to stick to line drying if I can keep managing it.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

I have an indoor clothesline + hanger space + clothes horse, but honestly, if you're talking pants and sheets and towels, you want them to flap majestically in the breeze.

Dog pee found over two days count - 10

I left him alone last night for a couple of hours and was told that he kept setting off the cameras barking. When I got home, he was eating the treat I gave him when I left the house. I think it is a separation anxiety problem.
