If a creature that size existed, it wouldn't be made of ordinary flesh. Its bones would have to be something special just to hold it up, and its tendons would need to be extraordinarily tough to keep the muscles from just sliding off in a heap.

We wouldn't wipe it out, we'd raise it as livestock and farm it for parts.

Someone's missing the point of kaiju.

You mean the nuclear bombs HELP it? :O /s

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 2 months ago

Unless Godzilla is actually bullet and bomb proof like the actual movies...

This is why 98 kinda sucked, and why Shin and Minus One kicked all the butts ever.

It's far too late for me. Fate cemented Godzilla 98 as one of my favorites the moment I unwrapped the VHS tape on Christmas morning.

I'm so sorry! I have the same thing with 85, making me think you must be about 13 years my junior. Minus One is really, really good though. Highly recommended.

Why focus on firepower? Locks you in to an arms race for density, basically - who can field more mass/energy (menergy? πŸ€”).

The Sword In The Stone taught me very young that if you've got to fight something big, you can go big, or you can go very very small. More likely we'd beat it with a biological or chemical weapon.

Because viruses are slow, and giant robots with 2 pilots at once that use boats as swords are cool

Nuclear fire breath vs the military? Stupidly thick armour made from subsea nodules and an appetite for tanks. Godzilla is great because it's so stupid. And he beats all military today

[–] untorquer@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Which military? Cause i ain't betting on Japan.

Just been discussing my kid's "what if": If T-Rex, allosaurus etc. were around these days, a polar bear or black bear would still be way more dangerous. It'd be no big deal once people got used to it. Few safety instruction signs perhaps, similar to areas with bears.

Once you can't fight it without high caliber guns and can't outrun it, there is not much of a difference. Bears, can't even out-climb them.

godzilla and king kong, or any other kaiju are laregely immune to nuclear explosions, they absorb the energy and it feeds them. or the ANGELS of evangelion, nothing harms them if yuo cant penetrate thier AT FIELD or if the angel has a physical armor. this is assuming the "real life " creatures have the same abilities.

irl a creature like that, would have to be made from somehting other than what animals are made of, something unknown to this world, or probably something like shapeshifters(accessing a pocket dimension to increase or reduce mass with energy)
