Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

Who are these people who do not have confidence in the criminal justice system but do have confidence in the police?

Oh yeah, fascists.

Why don't all the rows have the same length? Did fewer people answer the question about newspapers than about banks?

[–] huppakee@feddit.nl 8 points 4 months ago

That would be weird, since the graph is about percentages and not absolute numbers. But it would also be weird if there is a 'hidden' answer which comes down to 'i dont know' or 'i dont want to answer'.

I assumed margin of error

This poll was taken June of 2024. I wonder if things have changed since then.

People trust the fucking police and army more than unions. That’s just a fucking sad state.

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

That's a century of anti-union propaganda at work.

Not in the US, but my mom works for a really bad union whose greatest accomplishment seems to be giving employees paid 15-minute breaks every 4 hours or so.

The union talks big about protecting employees, but really only protects them the way that an HR department would.

When you drop below cable companies, you really need to step back and take a look at your life.

The one thing that gives hope about this graph is that people have so little trust in Congress. Democracy doesn't work unless you mistrust elected officials.

Mmm, that juicy sour sarcasm.

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

Yeah, but this poll was from Gallup—who trusts them?

[–] themaninblack@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

That is a disturbing and surprising level of confidence in the police. I’m definitely in some kind of bubble.
