Attorney Phillip Arroyo said his client, whom he isn’t identifying out of fear of retaliation, arrived in the United States from Mexico when he was a minor.

The man, now in his early 30s, has legal status through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, according to the attorney. Arroyo said his client was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after a “misunderstanding” during a traffic stop.

He was sent to Alligator Alcatraz on Friday and remains at the facility, Arroyo said. Considering his client’s legal status, Arroyo told the Herald he’s confident he will be able to get an immigration bond.

“The narrative is that only violent criminals are being sent to Alligator Alcatraz,” Arroyo said. “We don’t know why [he was sent there] because he has legal status.”

Failed a paper bag test.

It's that simple. Just racism. That's all.

"The brown paper bag test" is a term in Black oral history used to describe a colorist discriminatory practice within the Black community in the 20th century, in which an individual's skin tone is compared to the color of a brown paper bag. The test was used to determine what privileges an individual could have; only those with a skin color that matched or was lighter than a brown paper bag were allowed admission or membership privileges.

Anyone else get the feeling that the private prison complex was doing this in small towns and wanted to expand their reach? That the ICE program is their dream come true so they can fill beds and get paid for them. If they're murdered, who's going to know about the bed count or legal status?

Since the Civil War oligarchs in this country have been slowly creeping us back to slavery. They couldn't move too fast. So they moved slow. Some wage suppression here. Little union busting there. Now comes the payoff with Private Prisons. It's why red states are outlawing weed vapes and shit like that. It's slavery. "Except as punishment for a crime"

Look for Chump to try expanding what can be used as justification for enslavement. With all our homeless imagine if they start rounding up people for "vagrancy".

Millions of slaves at the snap of the finger. Just gotta go round them up. And they'll pay them like $0.65 an hour or something so they can claim it isn't slavery. But in effect it will be. Especially seeing as prisons often charge inmates for various things during their stay. So they leave prison with debt.

This is a bad place. An evil place.
