Was trying to be as cautious as possible, but I've removed the disclaimer. I did try and use the colour pink, but colours are not strictly gendered, not worthy of the content warning on second thought.

It was fun learning thst the body and face hair that stopped growing when I transitioned was just going to come back because I hit my late 20s…

i actually thought this was a transmasc meme at first

I had my first laser treatment last week, really looking forward to the time when I don't need my razor anymore (or at least a lot less often).

I'm not trans, but looking to save y'all some money. Stop buying those expensive cartridge razors and invest in a nice safety razor. The razors are dirt cheap and the cut is damn close to a cartridge cut. I'll never go back to Gillette again!

If your hair growth pattern allows for it. I'm not trans either, but my facial hair grows almost parallel to my skin, and after 5 years of trying a dozen different razors, two dozen different blades, and watching all the videos and trying different angles, I can't get a close shave with one.

The closest I've gotten was the Leaf razor which is similar to a cartridge razor but with half DE blades. Even with that I could only get a close shave every other day.

The only thing I've found that works is an electric foil shaver (Panasonic Arc to be specific).

You can't get a close shave even when going against the grain with an aggressive razor? Damn

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Yup, and if I do manage, I can only do it every other day without destroying my face.

If I could grow a mustache, I'd let it all grow out, but the only part of my stache that grows in full is the Hitler stache.

Ooh I think that's the same reason my hair refuses to shave with anything, I should try one of the foil ones

I use the Arc 5, but I recommend going with the 3 to start. The cartridge on the 5 is just really fucking big.

Strictly better, if you get gud.

I'm ignorant, are you more prone to accidental cuts? How is it with razor burn and ingrown hairs around, you know, sensitive areas?

[–] Zwiebel@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago

You'll find safety razors branded as "mild" or "aggressive" which just means how far the blade sticks out. Obv the mild ones will irritate less, but also stuggle with long/lots of hair when you shave infrequent

I was more prone for my first few shaves as my skin adjusted to the different blade, but I don't really get cuts anymore unless I reuse the blade too many times. If you get a decent safety razor you can adjust the angle of the blade for your preferred comfort. I haven't noticed any more ingrown hairs vs a cartridge razor.

to help with razor burn, sanitize your razor with 70% rubbing alcohol

Not to brag, but I don't even have enough body hair to shave myself if I wanted to

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Super jealous of that, it takes me like 30+ minutes with an electric trimmer to work through from feet to shoulders 🫀
