guess I'm fucking stupid, no understando how to do that. help please?
Tbh, I had to find the way to do so myself just now but:
- Search for the user using their full mastadon ~~address~~ handle via lemmy search function
- Open their profile and press "send message".

The Lemmy UI doesn’t allow you to see others’ private messages, no, but you shouldn’t consider them to be private. It’s possible for instance admins to read them, and in the past there’s been exploits allowing anyone to read them. If you need more private messaging, use Matrix instead.
AFAIK, you can just mention the Mastodon user here?
I don't think that counts as a PM/DM though.
