@turbowafflz, the price of the FairPhone 5 at launch was £649. ^1 Now it's £419. ^2 the price of the gen. 6 could go down.
P.S. you can still get the FairPhone 4.
I wish they would just make a dumb phone that was safe and secure, but I am in the minority on this one. I hope they do well, it's a beautiful idea. This is the one you can fix yourself, right?
Yep ! They also make extra efforts to sanitize the whole production process by sourcing as much materials as they can and paying workers a bit more.
They seem quite transparent and I think having a quick look at their impact reports give some idea of how complicated this is : https://www.fairphone.com/en/impact-report/
We really need to find a way to make technology sustainable. At least this is approaching that issue.
This is the repairable phone, yes.
I'm guessing they won't make a feature phone because that industry isn't as wasteful as the smartphone industry.
I hope they make a fair tablet, but it'd better have good I/O. **There is no reason a medium-sized device intended for media consumption shouldn't have a headphone jack.**
Oh, a fair tablet would be nice to be honest. I am not sure how much of a market there is though?
