Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

wait 'tell they find out that the ranger named XxXLegollassiXxX isn't really going to be of any use either.

[–] abobla@lemm.ee 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

at least he looks dope as fuck

[–] Honytawk@feddit.nl 1 points 11 months ago

That aint going to win the battle though

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 12 points 11 months ago (2 children)

What about the ranger named TotallyNotDrizzt, tho?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

he might even be the reason for the TPK.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 5 points 11 months ago

Definitely useless

I have an old scythe that was passed down to me by a friend's father-in-law before he died around 20 years ago. I would not want to ever get in the way of that thing if it was swung with malicious intent. It is very much a "fuck everything in this particular direction" type of weapon.

Wait....the grim reaper DIED???

I didn't even know that was an option...

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Works just like Tim Allen's "The Santa Claus".

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

If that were true I'd actually be kind of happy... I can't say why without putting myself on a list though.

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago (2 children)

We’re all thinking it

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago

America might just end up with free healthcare after all :)

Having never seen the movie, ya know, since it's a Tim Allen movie, I can assure you that I'm entirely unclear what we're all thinking.

Is it something to do with the Grim Reaper being unfunny and quite frankly baffling and confusing how he keeps getting work? Because I always wonder why ABC in the early 90s was trying to decide who should star in their new family friendly sitcom, and they decided to go with the guy who got arrested a few years prior for cocaine. I mean seriously. HOW do you get arrested in the mid-80s for cocaine??? How big of a bender do you have to be on for cops to single you out in the 80s for cocaine??? Then again, the 80s were a weird time. I'm still trying to figure out how Paul Rubens got arrested for jerking off in a jerk off theater.

.....what were we talking about? Oh yes. Taxes. The trump tax is too high, and too stupid that it exists. What do you mean you've never heard of trump tax? Oh, fine. "Tariffs". Whatever. It's an arbitrary tax set by trump, and repealed by trump for his own personal gain. I call it trump tax, so that EVERYONE knows exactly who benefits, and why it exists....or doesn't exist. Depending on the day. You should start calling it trump tax too. Lets make that a thing.

....what were we talking about again? Oh right. The weather. FUCK CLOUDS!!!!

I think that’s sort of how it works in diskworld with death but it’s been a long ass time since I read those books.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 months ago

Mhmm, quite inconvenient for everyone. You can learn more in Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett.

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Now I'm starting to wonder if maybe that's where he got it from... It's very old. Maybe the reaper came and he managed to swipe it and gave it to me before the reaper had a chance to come back for him with a newer one.

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 11 months ago

Grim reaper got mugged. Charon won't be happy.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Using a one hand scythe to cut an overgrown yard is an experience I never want to forget. It's shockingly effective.

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Yup, they are very effective. Mine is a large two handed one with a curved handle (aprox 5 feet) and blade about 3 feet long, for taking down crops. Even slightly dull not many things put up much a fight with that blade and a good swing.

Similar to this one, except my handle has been whitewashed and has a bit more of a curve. https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzY4WDEwMjQ=/z/iwUAAOSwwJ5dvFxp/$_86.JPG

You never know - the party may need to mow a lawn.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago

Are they short on rupees?

[–] hakase@lemm.ee 29 points 11 months ago (3 children)

OK, so we know the game in question is not Dark Souls, because the great scythe is fast, hits like a truck, has massive range, and has bleed.

[–] commiunism@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 11 months ago

Not OSRS either, where Scythe is one of the most powerful mega-rare weapons

[–] Nikko882@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Could be Guild Wars 2. There are two scythe the game (I'm not counting staff skins): Necromancer staff, which is a casting implement with mostly utility skills, and Necromancer Reaper "mode", which gives you a ton of DPS and tankiness until you run out of your saved up life force.

[–] sfjvvssss@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Great Scythe in Dark Souls was amazing.

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

So was the one you could make from Priscilla's soul

[–] lorty@lemmy.ml 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That one was this meme, low range, ok damage but a very agressive bleed buildup that relegates it into the gimmick weapon category.

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I think bleed is effective enough in the game to not be considered gimmicky, unless you're talking about pvp but ds1 pvp was a gimmick in and of itself.

[–] lorty@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 months ago

I meant the self bleed it does. It requires mitigating it with bleed resistance and/or playing slowly.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 9 points 11 months ago

Me joining the hacker activist group with my GPU accelerated terminal emulator and 12 visual plugins and filters overlaid.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

What if you really need to scare some pigeons with a balloon twisted into the shape of Robert Frost?

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Every JRPG gives me that moment when I have a perfect pattern worked out with 4 members, and then I get an extra β€œcool guy” in the group. I can’t figure out what role he fits in, so I never use him.

[–] Laser@feddit.org 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Just make him tanky and put an Insight into it, it's a Polearm weapon, bam, useful

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 11 months ago

Make him tanky by adding a hammer.

[–] Goretantath@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

That was Mabinogi before they added Astrologer.
