The Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee called for using far-right candidates “as a cudgel to move the more established candidates further to the right.” Clinton’s camp insisted that Trump and other extremists should be “elevated” to “leaders of the pack” and media outlets should be told to “take them seriously.”

She may not be playing now, but I feel it's fair to point out that Hillary has played some stupid games - the American people reap the stupid prize.

The Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee called for using far-right candidates “as a cudgel to move the more established candidates further to the right.”

It's important to note that this also applied to Democratic candidates. With the Republicans moving 100 miles to the Right, Democrats didn't think anyone would notice them moving 20 miles to the Right. Clinton and the DNC are just as responsible for the Overton window shift as the Republicans are. If not more so. Had they embraced and supported people like Sanders, who would have absolutely demolished Trump, we wouldn't be in this fucking mess.

Where did you get this information from?

[–] M1ch431@slrpnk.net 20 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

The original source is a verified, leaked email (dated April 23, 2015) from her 2016 campaign. The DNC plan was attached in the email and can be found here.

The specific quote is from Salon.

Thanks boss

I don't know about what they said, but it's pretty well known that the DNC encouraged Trump because he was viewed as unelectable. Clinton sucks

[–] Doctor_Satan@lemm.ee 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That's part of it, but the other part is so much worse. The DNC and the Clinton campaign strategy was to elevate "unelectable" far-right nutjobs like Trump so that the Democratic party could intentionally pivot to the Right and still look like real opposition by contrast. They saw the writing on the wall ever since Sanders (and left-leaning policies in general) started gaining mainstream popularity in the late 2000s. The Dems are beholden to the same corporate billionaires as the Republicans, and the mere whiff of Leftism-lite made them all terrified that they might become slightly less wealthy under a SocDem government, and that "we the people" might become slightly more influential in said government.

Goddamnit....I was so disappointed I couldn't vote for Sanders so many times....I really dislike the way the DNC is behaving.

Hillary is just jealous she has to hide and do it slowly for years whereas Trump doesn't give a single fuck and do it the obnoxious way for 2 times more money.

I would think that Hillary having some experience in accepting bribes, would know...

So idk why everyone is doing the pot/kettle thing (with various wordings). She's speaking from experience.

Corruption is probably one thing that Hillary knows about, and she's calling it out. Doesn't mean she's any less guilty of being bribed, not does it mean that this isn't a bribe for Trump, nor does that mean we should be unhappy at Trump and not unhappy at her for them both doing it.

My point here is, why not both?

Out of everybody out there, Hillary "I got a half a million dollars from Goldman Sachs for spending a few hours giving a speech to some traders" Clinton is maybe not the best person to talk about this.

Then again, she does have the benefit of hands on experience on this.

I'd leave Hillary alone. She's a relic from a different era. Not really relevant these days.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

shut the fuck up Hillary you're the reason he's where he is

~~She and her husband~~ The Clinton foundation recieved hundrends of millions from those same gulf countries much more than $400m accounting for inflation

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 6 points 6 days ago

Hillary was targeted by at least as much politically motivated investigations into her affairs as Trump got, and they all ended up going nowhere, whereas Trump got convicted of 37 felonies. But that doesn't seem to stop MAGAts rushing to post "crooked Hillary" and make suspiciously vaguely worded accusations every time the opportunity arises.

Notice how they never actually go into detail, because doing so would then require them to show evidence, so it's only ever "she was bought by the corporations" and "she knows all about corruption".

I don't want to see this horrible fucking idiot's take on anything.

Also fuck Donald Trump

[–] BilboBargains@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

She and Bill would definitely know this but then also lacking the self awareness to call it out, that is the surprising part.

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That is a $400 million money pit, not a jet

They're searching for an idiot to accept and pay for its maintenance fees
