A post to boast or moan about how much you're dominating/suffering in ranked or what decks you're using.

I was still using a Blaine deck, but I was making no progress in ranked. It's good enough to hover about in UB1, but not good enough to get to UB2. So I switched to a Rampardos/Lucario deck and got to UB2 without too much difficulty even though I only have one rare candy. Haven't tried to progress to UB3 yet.

I pulled a second Solgaleo, but haven't really tried it out yet. The problem with stage 2 decks (or even stage 1 decks) is that they always have a chance to brick, whereas Darktina is so consistent because it's only basics. I'd like to try a Darktina counter deck, but I don't have any Oricorios.

What’s the new Darktina deck? 2x Darkrai, 2x Tina, 1x Ori-Lightning?

Sorry, I meant a deck to counter Darktina (Oricorio is a good counter). I grass-type decks are pretty good to use as a counter deck as well, but fire is quite popular these days.

I think Darktina decks are now including a non-ex card specifically to counter Oricorio.

Just some comments on the current state of competitive as I see them-

  • Lots of decks are viable which is good.
  • Even the meta decks have some variation so it's not exactly the same every time.
  • Moving up in rank is extremely grindy once you are past the ranks that give bonuses for win streaks.
  • It takes too many clicks to re-queue, like everything else.

Yeah, UB is really grindy. Even if you only have a 50% win rate on average, you'll only gain 3 points for every two battles. MB must be even worse.

I just came across someone playing a new deck: chatot/rampardos/kabutops.

Chatot is the only basic, so you always start with it and can reshuffle your cards until you find your fossils and rare candies. Chatot and Kabutops only one 1 retreat cost, so you can switch them about if you need to look for another fossil later and chatot survived.

I tried it out and it's pretty fun. Not sure if it's good yet.

I really like the variety of decks that seem to work at the moment. My only worry is that things get so crazy in the future it's hard for new players to pick up and enjoy, but that's someone else's problem lol.

Progress

Making steady progress but my goal of Master Ball still feels very far away. IMO the win streak bonus should carry deeper into ranked, but I guess it's meant to be grindy.

Oh well done. I'm still treading water in UB2 - I'm not sure it's worth the time investment for just an extra 5/10 hourglasses. What deck are you using now?

What deck are you using now?

I rotate a handful of them. Sometimes it feels like I've run into a wall of a particular deck type so I switch to something more suited to deal with it. Sometimes it just gets boring playing the same thing over and over.

ATM the most played are probably Meowscarada, Garchomp, Giratina, Lycanroc, and I'm messing with a Charizard deck now since they're a common annoyance.
