How can we get more people to do the same?
A question that every VC funded business has problems with. How do we get more interaction/users?
This past month we have only had ~300 active users. A far shy from the previous 6 months with over 1000 active accounts.
This is most likely attribututed to two facts: They can't find content they like/want. They signed up used it for a period of time and then went back to Reddit. (Or joined another instance). Some people don't like the idea that we don't have a dislike enabled. Some people don't post at all and lurk.
Telling people it doesn't matter where you join as long as you use X,Y,X to find communities you like. But you will only find it if you search in a specific way... is actually a hard sell. Which is why people end up joining all the big servers lemm.ee, world, etc. They can look at "local" without even doing anything and it's just like Reddit.
We still have on average 5 signups per day, previously it was 10% success rate, we have since rewritten the application form and now have a 90% success rate with the other 10% being people who don't bother to read, or obvious advertising bots.
The influx of users is there but content wise we are back to normal. We have set up bots in the past for content and then people ended up complaining. I think people still complain when they see a sfw post in the nsfw community needless to say it's 99% bot posts now as no-one posts in there even though it is/was the biggest in terms of subscribers.
So, if you or anyone reading have ideas, we (I) am all for it!
