I feel like this is more an issue with boomers, not straights in general?
I don't know, are boomer guys like that.
"I hate my naggy same sex partner and our adopted children."
I dunno, kinda doesn't work the same.
What?
Boomers started the whole "wife bad," "father I cannot click the book" business
Sorry, I meant "boomer gays"
I think making fun of people for their sexuality is kind of a dick move. Blahaj.zone is typically against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
That's not what this Sub is about. From the original description
This subreddit is meant to discuss and laugh at toxic heteronormativity and Boomer memes; it is not a hate sub. Heterosexual people are welcome here and hetero hate is not - we're here to laugh, not hate.
> making fun of people for their sexuality is a dick move.
>>That’s not what this Sub is about. >>>and laugh at toxic heteronormativity
... uhhhhhh. Has my reading comprehension degraded that much or is it the language?
Also: Overusing the word "toxic" can make it lose its meaning, can scare people from sharing their thoughts, and might be used unfairly to avoid responsibility.
Heteronormativity is when everyone assumes that everyone else is straight by default. It also normalises behaviors that are considered "straight".
Toxic heteronormativity is when someone's heteronormative views makes them act in a toxic way (ex: "if my son is gay, I'll kick him out", or stuff like "A guy must like having sex else he isn't normal")
So no, it's not mocking straight people for being straight, but mocking the silly behaviours that come from people taking the stereotypical role off husband and wife way too far.
Hope that explains it better :)
Yes, thank you.
>toxic heteronormativity
Definition pls
In a weird way I find these kind of jokes nostalgic, because they remind me of when I was a kid reading old comic books, and all the husbands seemed to hate their wives and vice versa.
I would sub, but... From what I've seen, blahaj zone admins and users both seem a little unhinged...
Unhinged?
Blahaj admins defederated from lemmynsfw because of a community on nsfw called “adorableporn” that had a post of what a user believed to be CSEM and reported, and the blahaj admin who saw it also believed it to be CSEM. The lemmynsfw admins say the person is an adult and they aren’t going to remove the post or the community, but blahaj admins don’t want the liability of hosting what looks like CSEM on first glance and defederated.
I really don’t get why anyone is wound up about it, it’s not like they’re banning people who make alt accounts to access lemmynsfw.
Edit: assuming that’s what the op is calling then unhinged over, anyway.
Yeah I read about that. Not only was it their choice, it sounded reasonable.
Apparently unhinged now means "I don't understand it and that angers me".
I thought this commenter might be better than that /shrug.
They may be, I just assumed because I recall “unhinged” being thrown around a lot in that announcement thread.
Their instance is named after an product from a giant corporation. That's enough for me to avoid it
Please join my new instance, frostedflakes.zone
Nice yeah this was a great sub, subscribed and submitted one I’ve seen recently!
having kids definitely is, or would be a punishment 😂
Problem is, people who think that actually end up having children
New Communities
A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.
Rules
The rules for behavior are a straight carry over of Mastodon.World's rules. You can click the link but we've reposted them here in brief, as a guideline. We will continue to use the Mastodon.World rules as the master list. Over all, be nice to each other and remember this isn't a community built around debate. For the rules about formatting your posts, scroll down to number 2.
1. Follow the rules of Mastodon.world, which can be found here.
A. Provide an inclusive and supportive environment. This means if it isn't rulebreaking and we can't be supportive to them then we probably shouldn't engage.
B. No illegal content.
C. Use content warnings where appropriate. This means mark your submissions NSFW if need be.
D. No uncivil behavior. This includes, but is not limited to: Name Calling; Bullying; Trolling; Disruptive Commenting; or Personal Criticisms.
E. No Harrassment. As an example in relation to Transgender people this includes, deadnaming, misgendering, and promotion of conversion therapy. Similarly Misogyny, Misandry, and Racism are also banned here.
2. Include a community title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.
3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.
Formatting
Please include this following format in your post:
[link text](/c/community@instance.com)
This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't
You should also include either:
or instance.com/c/community
FAQ:
Q: Why do I get a 404?
A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.
Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?
A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.
