Civic duty โœ…๏ธ

Climate change denier outside the voting centre yelled out, "Climate change isn't real, prove me wrong," and stared me dead in the eyes. I wanted to give him the lesson that the Year 7s will be doing in a few weeks, but I was ill-prepared lol. Next election, I'm coming for ya old mate

Also the amount of paper wasted is insane to me.

Bitch, you don't need all these pants!

I've tried on about 15 so far.

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 12 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Got through to bag drop with 10 minutes and 1kg to spare. Just waiting to board now... whew! I'm lucky I managed to take all these other goodies including fresh loaves from Woodfrog.

I hate these cattle class flights to the Soup, so many people who can't follow instructions and mill around in queues trying to board first even though there's a strict sequence

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 7 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

ee that's good timing.

Safe travels!

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 22 hours ago

yes, safe travels ๐Ÿ˜˜

Bugger. House is a no, I've withdrawn my application. The current tenant was there and very informative. Cooling is broken and the landlord has been refusing to fix it, heating is a bit dodgy too. Looks like they bought it 7 years ago and failed to do even the bare minimum maintenance since then.

So back to square 1 โ˜น๏ธ

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Bugger. That tenant is a dead set legend though. I guess you are sadly getting the full brunt of what renting is like now. Mad prices for poorly maintained holes, lying abound...

Oh damn. Iโ€™m sorry. Itโ€™s at least good you were warned and dodged a lemon.

When legal requirements like heating are not functional what are the duties of a REAs?

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 9 points 22 hours ago

It's an urgent repair that should have been done ASAP. The fact that it's not done, plus the fact the agent is not even on top of what type of heating and cooling are in the property, is a major red flag.

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 22 hours ago

Sounds like you managed to dodge a bad one there.

Maybe you need Mr Woof to sniff out the bad ones.

Down the bellarine again.

Still have the leak that the plumber couldn't find but getting close! So have to run down the block and turn the tank water on and off after use. 1 minute showers :( Filling buckets for watering, washing clothes by hand in the sink, flushing the dunny every 2nd time.

Reminds me of stage 4 water restrictions back in the day with the millennium drought. Only difference is back then used to also bring a bucket into the shower and keep grey water from the rare use of the washing machine for plants. Those were the days.

Really makes you appreciate running water that works unlike a lot of the world.

Watch out for Bucket Back! The physios did well out of the drought.

[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 8 points 21 hours ago

I've been gardening this morning and lamenting over how dry it is. And it brought back my own memories of establishing the garden here during that drought and i remember standing in buckets in the shower to catch every last drop.

If anyone was thinking of popping in to Northcote Plaza this morning, don't. The Aldi carpark is closed- lots of caution tape- and the rest of the joint is bedlam. Super busy and the main carpark has a real chaotic, angry energy. There were actual fights breaking out.

I only wanted to return my overdue library books!

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Park behind the library next to the housing commission - you can get in through the driveway on the left of the library/medical centre from Separation St. Pain to get in and out but unlikely to be cordoned off as on the other side of Sep St.

[โ€“] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I'll give this a go next time.

Can't find anything about an incident there. Maybe just a derro dustup?

[โ€“] tone212_@aussie.zone 9 points 22 hours ago (4 children)

I called the medical clinic to see if they were running on time before I made my way there. As I hate waiting around, like most people. Was told to turn up at appointment time as doctor was running in time. Only one person ahead of me apparently. 30 mins after appointment, have still not been seen. Why do I bother.

[โ€“] dumblederp@aussie.zone 4 points 18 hours ago

One of the many reasons I ditched my old doctor was that hey was always late even when I booked the first appointment of the day. He'd wander in late, say the same excuse about traffic every time and proceed to be a shit gp in general.

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 8 points 22 hours ago

Heaps of reasons.

It turns into a cascade. They might have a patient(s) before you where the consult is more complex and needs more time. Which leads to more paperwork before the next. Your problem might be more complex and so on. Then some might overbook due to no shows (pretty common in rona times), also sometimes greed from the doctor. Sometimes poor management from the secretary.

If the cascade starts early in the day, the poor souls at the end of the day (including doc and staff)...

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 22 hours ago

doctor's appointments are not organised in a way we would do ourselves

they kinda do blocks and a few people get assigned into that block of time, and then it's a first come first seen basis

so if your appointment is for 10.30 that means you are in that block, not that you will be seen at 10.30

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 22 hours ago

In my experience, clinics are never honest on the phone. But when you show up, all of a sudden it's a different story.

You'd think I'd have plenty of time with a flight departing at 12 noon but somehow I left things til the super last minute. Have checked in online but ETA is 20 minutes prior to bag drop closing... Thoughts and prayers that there's no crashes or bad traffic on the way ๐Ÿ˜ญ

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago

Had another crap sleep. I'm so tired today.

Also need to make another trip to get a beanie, lost mine recently and it's going to be cold next week.

[โ€“] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago

I'm over it, all these short weeks. Knocks my pay too much and the production schedule is all out of wack.

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago

For some reason, this 3 day week feels like it's been 6 days already.

Help be Jeebus

Gawd Iโ€™m so tired already
