Took the ol' girl to two sub-specialists today. Because ol' boy worked with these dudes we just walked in, out, just a nod of the head no charge shoulda been $300 or so a pop.

Last time I broke some bones cost me $300 to get into emergency only to tell me they weren't broken when they were. Then heaps more $ for scans (they were broken).

The whole thing was just completely waived and not an eyelid blinked.

I don't get that teatment :( I has to pay for the silly things I do.

That’s good, your mum deserves to catch a bit of a break. Long waits and medical bills can be so stressful

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

My mum's got a gold card. She still feels guilty when she uses it. "Oh yeah mum you're really living the high life when you get your toenails clipped for free once a month".

Back from the bellarine from a thankfully mostly stress free easter. Got blamed for bro and SIL not coming down though (usually a tradition thing) lol. Pointed out a few things and the subject changed pretty quickly without a fight.

But in more positive news the old slide projector worked great for the nepal trip slides. There's a big white wall down there that was perfect for it. Felt so old school. That tech is a bit before my time so was good fun trying to work out how to work the thing. Image quality was surprisingly excellent. A lot more fun than just flipping through files on the 'puter.

What's a family gathering without some blame being thrown around.

Glad it was mostly stress free for you, hope you're a bit rejuvenated.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 9 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I picked up a roll of pretty wallpaper from hard rubbish.

No idea what I'll do with it. Maybe line some drawers or something.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

omg, that's very similar to some lounge room and hallway wallpaper we had when I was growing up

Alright, home stretch of work for the day. Tunes, spreadsheets and a cuppa.

Wish me luck people.

Friday 2nd May the Thornbury Local is having a country rock n roll evening. I think I could get into that on election eve. And Missing Link is playing at Shotkickers on election night. OK, who needs to doomscroll when you can dance!

Feeling extra sad this evening for some reason. Flat sort of day. Very bleah at work. Finished the thing due today though, so that was nice.

Pay came in late, but it's in, so I finished pretty much all my gift shopping - no luck with fancy discounted Easter choccies :( car bills all paid off, flight stuff sorted.

Dinner, then time to pack and weigh my bags. I only leave on Thursday but tomorrow will be hectic so I'm going to just get it all out of the way today and avoid the immense anxiety that often comes with packing <24hrs before leaving

Might also tee up a list of ebooks to download. I'm thinking The Convenience Store Woman, maybe, for a bit of snark.

E: 90% packed except for the last minute stuff. Gee you can hit 20kg pretty quickly but. I somewhat regret buying a hefty 3+kg desktop replacement as a personal laptop all those years ago

The boys are sick so it means I'm bedbound as soon as one needs to sleep because he has this sixth sense about you not being there.

My girlfriend said she wouldn't stop working about being away from them but I said this could be a break for her to and I hope she's enjoying it. She would be the one stuck in bed with him otherwise if we were home

The drop off point was closed so I had to take stuff somewhere else. It’s donated now though so I’ve got a bit of room back.

I make the best of what I have but regret having shared walls. I used to love having a bit of a sing to lift my mood πŸ™

Customer said I look no older than 13. I was too stunned to speak.

If I show up at the museum and claim I'm under 16, can I get in free?

Concession is free though.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

I pretended to be a child when I went visit Sydney and a friend took me to the Aquarium there.

I went through as a child to get a cheap ticket, I didn’t speak at all as it would have given my age away, my friend did all the talking.

I also wore a hat low to cover my face.

Annoying neighbour has cottoned on to Boyo owning a fair few tools and made noises that sounded like a cash hire attempt. This isn't a good idea for many reasons.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There is exactly one neighbour I loan tools to. He's one of the good ones and honest to a fault. I've borrowed gear from him before (his suggestion) and we've helped each other out.

Anyone else can admire my tools from a distance.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Pretty sure he wanted the man and the tools. Much more time required on that to not be perceived as 'The Help' or whatever nonsense

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh hell no. That's a slippery slope and a half.

You help out, person is unhappy, and somehow it's your fault.

I fell for that once not happening again. Stay away from that whole situation if possible.

Client is getting shirty because the report I had planned to finish last week but couldn't due to my manager's shenanigans is now overdue. Manager is looking really guilty. I have been mostly giving him beatific smiles and continuing work at a steady pace. Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine πŸ˜‡

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 10 points 2 days ago

I have to go back to work tomorrow but screw it.

Got myself a coffee to treat myself.

Accidentally clicked on an nutter antivax conspiracy facebook link sent by a cooker inlaw. RIP my phone from whatever the algorithms serve me for the next 3 months. What level of exorcism do I need to decontaminate my phone?

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago (5 children)

I click "see less of" and "hide this post" on everything that Facebook suggests. My feed is now mostly just the subscribed groups (plus the ads, you can't get rid of those).

If you want to completely decontaminate your phone you'll need to get rid of Facebook entirely.

first coat of paint is done πŸ™‚

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well done Commbank. Broken when I most need it.

Down for the last hour or so.

Thought that was just me. I can access mine now

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Decluttering. Fished out the man's books. Found this riveting bed time story.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 2 days ago

I decided to put the winter doona on the bed, even if the nights are still being a bit warm. It meant I finally got to use the fancy patterned sheets as a top sheet. I'm trialling using the doona between two sheets instead of putting it into a cover. I cut open the covers so I can use the patterned piece as a top sheet, and the patterned sheets I got from the Buy Nothing group are underneath and folded over to show at the top. Mr Woof thinks it's ok, although he has a propensity to throw all the pillows onto the floor during the day so probably does not have the best credentials as a stylist.

I welcome the chilly mornings. It's almost trackie time, but not just yet.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Gone out for early voting today.

Currently stuck in line, big line too here today.

Almost like it was election day today.

Maybe wait a few days unless you want to be in a line.

Edit: it took 20 mins

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think today will be a good day to do some stress gardening. Until I have the new lease actually signed (and confirmation of my specific work hours and moving date, rather than just "June will be fine") I am going to be a little bundle of anxiety. I don't do well with uncertainty at the best of times, and these are big uncertainties. Ripping out some dead tomato plants etc. seems just the anti-anxiety activity I need.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 9 points 2 days ago

Can I recommend not anxiety pruning? Some of my plants have taken years to recover.

painting of vintage furniture continues

today it's sand the iron outdoor table, then use some some rust killer, wash then paint with some lovely bright pastel aqua blue. It's very Miami pastel .

then wash some more of the vintage bedroom setting for the spare room. Can't sand and paint furniture that is dirty.

i bought gloves because my hands were getting shredded and now I'm off to the op shop later to get some old clothes to paint in. I threw all my old clothes away when I was packing.

i'll post pics when it's all done πŸ™‚
