Yeah, he was a condescending sexist prick to the Kiyoshi warriors (initially), and while it did earn him some beatings, it didn't get him a restraining order and he even got with Suki in the end. That's high CHA alright.
I don't know about you, but to me, the fact that he showed genuine humility and willingness to step beyond his initial chauvinism (after some hands-on lessons about fighting women) had a lot more to do with that than his charm.
Meet enough people and there will be at least one who is into jerks.

Charisma is force of personality. Being hot is just a circumstance modifier to some checks.
In Pathfinder 1e, it mentions that high charisma can mean an attractive person. We know this can be true because my bard had a 36 cha (PF1e is broken lmao) and we all know it wasn't his personality.

Depending on the person, being awkward can be charming and sweet.
His CHA was high enough that he kept rolling low and saying silly things and it still was good enough.
Like when the character is more charismatic than the player. "I don't know what to say in this situation, but I rolled well!"
Let my socially awkward peeps play a bard if they want to, damn
I mean, yeah, that was my point.
The same thing happens with intelligence. D&D characters often have superhuman abilities, so you've got to just do your best with the roleplaying, but let interpretation and die rolls fill in the gaps.
On the contrary, if you keep trying then eventually you'll roll a 20 no matter how low your CHA is. That's good enough in circumstances where you do get to keep trying and you only need to succeed once. Sokka would keep trying while Zuko would refuse to risk looking like a fool.
That's rough buddy.
We all praise Sokka, but let's not forget that the live action actress of the princess got a dick haircut, the ultimate bard haircut.
