I know they roughly explained why, but it seems pretty insane they jumped the gun without having any of the users input and want people to go to another instance just for that community

I think it is very well explained. You don't need to go to other instance to follow them.

They are just merging with another community for convenience.

I don't get why are you so upset. It's not a big deal.

Also, you can create your own community in any instance you want.

Send me a link please. I'm kinda slow learning lemmy.

Part of the beauty of Lemmy is fracturing intentionally into smaller instances. The content is no less accessable to people who want it, and it'll hopefully provide a better, more reliable experience by being off lemmy.world on a smaller instance.

I believe many are trying to help reduce the load in lemmy.world, where most new users (including myself) started.

Kinda just sounded like Lemdroid was a better fit for them. I'm already subscribed, the fediverse is awesome.

I can see why they did it. World is far too ubiquitous to be responsive. I have a harder time interacting with world than any other instance.

If you don’t like the way they run their community, you’re free to start your own or even your own instance, that’s the beauty of federation

It's a good move. Having users and posts spread out over different communities isn't good. Especially when it's a niche community.

(There are three OpenTTD communities. None of them will be compelling when it's all split up.)

I don't agree with their decision but I understand their reasons. Probably the new instance is more suitable for the community, however they were growing in one of the biggest Lemmy instances. I think the best they could've done was to ask the community. Despite of that, I expect the android community to continue growing as it was before moving.
