- Shit broke
- Shit got fixed
- Shit’s working now
- @thedude is too busy having a well-earned beer to write up a postmortem.
Conclusion: shit just works!
Shit didn't work. :)
Once upon a time in a bustling city, there lived a group of nefarious individuals who sought to bring chaos and destruction to the world. These villains were led by an enigmatic figure known only as "The Mastermind," whose true identity remained shrouded in mystery. The evil plot hatched by this cunning individual involved infiltrating a critical server that controlled various aspects of the lemmy's infrastructure, from communication to emergency shit posting services. If they could take down this vital hub, their sinister plans would be all but assured.
Into this treacherous landscape stepped our hero: a skilled and dedicated sysadmin named @TheDude. This brave soul was responsible for maintaining the security of the server in question, and he took his duties very seriously. Unbeknownst to the villains, @TheDude had spent years honing his skills and developing an arsenal of tools to protect the server from any potential threats. He was a true guardian, ever vigilant and prepared to defend his digital stronghold at all costs.
As the nefarious forces began their assault on the server, @TheDude sprang into action. With lightning-fast reflexes and an unwavering determination, he deployed his arsenal of defensive mechanisms to fend off the relentless barrage of cyberattacks. The battle raged on for hours, with neither side gaining the upper hand.
Just when it seemed that the server might fall into the hands of "The Mastermind" and his minions, @TheDude discovered a vulnerability in their encryption protocols. Seizing this opportunity, he devised a cunning plan to exploit this weakness and turn the tide of the battle in favor of the forces of good.
In the dead of night, with the city's inhabitants unaware of the intense digital conflict raging beneath their feet, @TheDude executed his daring gambit. With lightning speed and precision, he managed to breach the enemy's defenses and plant a Trojan horse within their ranks. This subtle but powerful intrusion would serve as the key to unlocking "The Mastermind"'s ultimate plans and bringing an end to his nefarious schemes.
As dawn broke over the city, @TheDude sat in his dimly lit command center, exhausted but exhilarated from his triumphant battle against evil. The server he had so diligently guarded remained secure, its vital functions uninterrupted by the forces of darkness that had sought to bring it down.
In time, "The Mastermind" and their minions were brought to justice, thanks in no small part to @TheDude's tireless efforts in protecting the server that served as the linchpin for their nefarious plans. The city's residents breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that their guardian sysadmin had once again saved the day and ensured the safety and stability of their digital infrastructure.
And so, our hero @TheDude remained ever vigilant, ready to defend his digital stronghold against any future threats that might arise. His legend grew, inspiring countless others to take up the mantle of the guardian sysadmin and stand watch over the critical servers that kept their cities running smoothly. In this way, @TheDude's epic tale served as a beacon of hope and an enduring reminder of the power of courage, skill, and determination in the face of adversity.
@TheDude is my hero
Tldr.
Admin did do the needful.

Hi all,
I somewhat explain some of the recent downtime here https://sh.itjust.works/comment/1341394
Postmortems are really great when they are done well and you have a team of sysadmins to collaborate with. As you probably know most instance operators and moderators are volunteering their time (and sometimes money) to keep these instances online. As the lemmyverse matures in age and development things will get better. In the meanwhile there will be some hiccups along the way.
When I have some extra time I plan on sharing more details about all of this. In the meanwhile check in on our chat. I'm pretty active there and can always provide additional insights on whats going on during an outage.
The fact that I can see this post must mean that it's up and running again.
Would be an interesting read :3
