General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

"I've spoken to a lot of families who have had homes there for generations and they're saying the same thing - how can we carry on with this?" said Mr Williams.

I can't feel too bad for people who have been responsible for pricing locals (who the homeowners rely on for their lovely holidays) out of places to live.

This is a fantastic move, and if it means that more people who live and work there can buy property so much the better.

Second home owners wondering why the council would crack down on their "investments"

Fortunately the second home owners probably won't vote the council out because they'll be busy living in their first homes when elections come round.

Tom Williams and his family, who live in Lancashire

It just sounds like this guy visited with the grandkids in the summer.

I've talked with others who have had homes there for generations

Very little sympathy unfortunately. Bet he votes Tory too to make sure that no one gets a home now that he has two houses.

Besides, it's not a home if you don't live there.
