If they release them with a fully open driver that supports standard APIs (OpenGL, OpenCL, Vulkan) and release low-level documentation then NVidia's proprietary trash will become redundant. Even better if they design them to be simple on a low-level so any programmer can just write their own driver/API/compiler. That would upset current software monopolies and the world would become a better place.

I just dropped in to link that article. Nicely done as always comrade!

The article does state that it's in certain instances. But it does bode well for the future. China's tech industry has made massive strides in the past few years thanks to the sanctions. I expect them to easily surpass the west in less than 10 years at this rate.

Yeah, it's been amazing to watch how quickly China managed to catch up. I'm excited about the next few years when China starts visibly pulling ahead of the west.

Can't help but wonder how much tariffs & embargos sped this process up
