This will certainly sway the election lmao

The story published by the media does a lot of harm to the greens party. It doesn't even matter if the story is corrected later on. The harm is already done.

It will sway the way people see Greens and their voters, so yeah, it will sway the election, even if just a bit. A lot of small shits like this can eventually sway elections.

"Hey, these guys are engaging in direct action, effecting change even without power" is the message every single political party would love to send.

If Russia were half as powerful as articles like this always implicitly require them to be, we'd all be speaking Russian.

I think it's silly to believe that the US is performing covert actions to sway governments in both the global North and global South, but that Russia isn't. That would be naïve.

Lmao, they might not be powerful in military, but they sure know how to push propaganda and bad actors everywhere.

Or not every thing you disagree with in the world is Russia's fault.

Sure buddy, a guy was clogging car's exhausts in Germany pinning it on the Greens was being paid by Russians, and several cables in the nordic countries have been damaged in a way that points to Russia and/or its allies, but Russia is completely innocent /s

[–] liyunxiao@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 month ago

Given the undersea cable thing was found to have nothing to do with Russia.. yeah maybe use a different example.

You mean as powerful as to be able to find 3 randos willing to make 100 € per sabotaged car?

Cheap and efficient way to influence the elections.

this line of reasoning doesn't make sense to me: the liberals are the ones who are russophobic, not the leftists.

[–] Xavienth@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 month ago

You're saying the green party of Germany is leftists?

[–] Elrecoal19_0@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

What? What does liberals/leftists being or not being russophobic have to do with an article about Russia sabbotaging German elections, exactly?

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

leftist are neutral on russia, while the liberals are just as russophobic as the conservatives; targeting the people who are neutral makes little sense.

[–] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

I wouldn't say we're neutral, we're just opposed to Russia's opposition at least as much as we are Russia.

Mind your thread! Russian brigade incoming!
