I guess my apartment isn't so poorly insulated. Just got home after a nice lunch out thinking I'd need to blast the AC, but I've just got the fan on me and I'm pretty comfortable!

I think I'm coming down with a sore throat. Fingers crossed it is just dry air from the air conditioner combined with standard paranoia. ๐Ÿคž

Edit: I don't think it's paranoia โ˜น๏ธ I've booked off sick for tomorrow and am considering making some emergency jelly.

Nipped out to the shops for a couple of things, still foul outside. Onto season 2 of Blue Lights, such an entertaining show. Even if it kind of is copaganda. I can't get enough of those northern Irish accents. And Stevie and his lunches ๐Ÿฅฐ

One thing I've noticed since coming back is how quickly my attention span/ability to just be has gone back to shite though... I should throw my phone away, honestly.

Big spring clean tomorrow. Looking forward to it to be honest.

Been a bit "slovenly" the last 2 weeks so this will make me feel a shit load better.

Also putting the ps5 away for a little while so I can finish off these songs. Sometimes out of sight, out of mind is best.

15/20

rant and spoilerCan't believe it's slip slop slap, slide on some sunglasses? I didn't realise sunglasses were more important than hydration on a hot day. Guess you can all stop drinking water today then

My last.fm 2024 recap thing just arrived. It's less accurate than Spotify, because every now and then it'll crap out and decide to just not count an entire week's worth of music, or I'll listen to something 5 times and it only counts it twice

But anyway, some interesting stuff fin there:

recapSome things are basically the same as the Spotify rewind. My top artists are hilltop hoods, flume, ABBA, the Chainsmokers, and the Rubens. But I listened to a total of 1,161 individual artists last year (23% of those were new to me)

2,165 albums (top were Walking under stars, loose, skin, under the sun, and colour by numbers), 31% of those albums were new to me

2,341 tracks, 30% were new to me. Top 5 were Cosby Sweater, Never Be Like You, To Her Door, Karma Chameleon, and Nothing Matters (bit of a depresso song. Was very into it earlier this year)

For the more interesting stuff:

My busiest listening day is Friday, and my most active hour is 3pm, but really I'm mostly listening to stuff between noon and midnight. But ivemoustened to something in every single hour of the day!

Most of my music is, predictably, from the 2010s. My top album from the 2010s was Walking Under Stars by the hilltops. Next up is the 2000s, my top album from the 2000s was Loose by Nelly Furtado (โ™ฅ๏ธ man eater), and next up is the 80s. My top album from the 80s was Under the Sun by Paul Kelly

I've listened to people from a few places around the world. My top artist from Nigeria was Rema, South Africa was Tyla, Russia was t.A.T.u. Ireland was Enya, and Argentina was Pez

I listened to at least 61 days and 7 hours of music (up 6% on last year), an average of 64 songs per day, and my biggest listening day was November 25th when I listened to at least 225 songs!

I'm a top 0.13% fan of Hilltop Hoods, and a top 0.02% fan of Cosby Sweater lol

Top 11% of listeners on LFM. And they refer to me as a nostalgic, discerning, adventurer

I'm also apparently the 60th top listener of the Rubens, and the 4th top listener of Under the Sun by Paul Kelly, and more specifically, the third top listener of To Her Door. That's crazy!

I forgot to post something bird related! My tribute today is to the Maggies and ravens in my street, I love watching their morning antics and their little society. And the birds which raised a baby in a nest they made in the back of my staghorn. Also the pigeon that lives in the supermarket. Smart bird, it's always cool in there and there's plenty of food. They've tried to shoo it out but it's way too clever, bobs under the aisle into the next aisle away from its pursuers lol. There are black and yellow cockies that come every year exactly at the time the pine trees in the local park have young pinecones. If you're not careful you'll end up copping a projectile from above.

So Day 5 of the NYโ€ฆ

The space rearrangement is working really well. It is definitely is a mood booster and I somehow have started a gallery wall which I am even more excited about. Three pieces up and I can probably accommodate another 4-7 frames, depending on size and arrangement. It makes me actually want to be in the space, even if it is the dining area. (Using the dining table as a partial bar top may be also a little more enticing, haha.)

No complaints using Linux Shred. Not sure why. Last drive currently being nuked by loading the OS via USB. So far, so good. That means (as sad as it is) tower be gone tomorrow! I am also relieving myself of my giant Philips iron with its massive water reservoir that never worked quite right (it works perfectly fine, but how it steams is just odd to me). Why I hung onto it so long, I donโ€™t know. Back to a regular sized iron (a Tefal was obtained today).

If only offloading/spring cleaning had always felt this good! Still got a bit to go, but I feelโ€ฆ positive.

Thinking of the birds today, I love seeing the crested pigeon (here dubbed the sprouts pigeon in this household) in the park. They just kind of look rebellious, LOL.

Love punk pigeons with their little mohawks

It must be the week for cleaning & decluttering - Iโ€™ve been sorting out the shed. I pulled all the stuff out and have been sorting through it, and ordered some storage racks today. Feeling very accomplished

I Like Birds https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=32J5jCP1z9A

Edit: The other day I saw a bird I couldnโ€™t quite place (I donโ€™t know all the names). It might have been a honeyeater/wattlebird but I couldnโ€™t tell at that distance. I hope the magpies donโ€™t drive all the other natives away.

There used to be a tawny frogmouth that would come sit on my fence hooting. Probably attracted by the mice that would be hiding in my long grass. I havenโ€™t seen that bird in years. Maybe it ate a poisoned mouse or someone screwed with its habitat

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 points 6 months ago (3 children)

My bird theme happening is that I saw a family of noisy miners and a magpie using the bird bath. Noisy miners have unfortunately set up camp in the surrounding trees and are monopolising the bird bath, but at least if they are here, then the bird baths in other peoples yards are free of harassment for other bird species.
