It's been a long time coming, but at least with it's final act it'll help bring new life.

They are sinking the cruise ship the SS United States, it’ll be sunk to make an artificial reef

SS United States was an ocean liner, not a cruise ship. It was built for getting people between US and Europe when that still mostly happened by ship, not to give people norovirus.

...it's bound for an ending that is, in reality, a new phase of its life: serving as an artificial reef that attracts divers and marine life in the waters off Florida.

I love it when this is done. Marine life absolutely love these things.
