Graphene OS on Pixel 6a? (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Has anyone used it? What was your experience with install/performance? I'm thinking of getting one because it has decent specs for $250. I don't need banking apps or anything like that, and the only social media app I need is snapchat (I know that sort of defeats the purpose, but I just want better privacy, not perfect).

Currently running exactly that. Only ever had minor problems with closing certain resource intensive apps (sometimes they hover on screen when switching between apps) although very rarely.

Otherwise, couldn't be happier.

Installing was just following the website instructions: press to unlock bootloader -> press to flash image -> press to lock bootloader.

Simple as.

I'm suprised the install is so smooth. I remember back in the android 4 days installing a custom rom was a nightmare. I personally bricked 2 phones because of it.

Dont fret about it, really. It's not quite as smooth as I made it seem since you still have to manually switch some options, but it is abundantly clear what steps you must take and how to take them.

Just don't skim the steps like I first did, I think I almost bricked my phone before i realized what i was doing. Reading the instructions and doing precisely what it tells you is easier and simpler than you think, also helps a lot in not ruining 250$ of hardware

I have a Pixel 6 Pro. Different phone, but same generation and same SoC so the experience should probably large be the same. I had zero problems installing GrapheneOS. The web installer was much easier to use than recoveries like TWRP. Performance is really good, fast and smooth. Can't tell the difference between GOS and stock. Hope that answers your questions.

I'm still using it on a 4a, and performance is excellent.

I'm still gonna use it until it can't keep a charge.

Seems to still be getting updates.

I'm running exactly that, with zero issues. I also have a secondary profile with Google Services Framework on it for the 2 apps I use that absolutely require it. It works great. Seriously, I'm never going back to a stock Android phone after this.

P6 here. No mobile pay. That's the literal only flaw. I couldn't be happier, its exactly what I expected and a little more.

Installation went smooth like butter, the experience isn't any different than normal android and it also runs we'll proprietary apps, but I wouldn't run the on your owner profile
