He feels thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh! This is a Bilbo right? I need to read the books again, been too long

[–] VubDapple@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Yes, Bilbo describing how it feels to have ones life elongated by the ring without knowing that the ring is doing it

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 43 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He's under 50, hardly a lad in Hobbit years.

[–] NoSpiritAnimal@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

Not even as old as book Frodo going on his adventure

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 29 points 2 years ago

Damn, he's 43, so I guess 39 in that image.

Did y'all forget that Frodo went to the Undying Lands? He only visits for work.

Edit: it seems I've forgotten... he'd still age in the Undying Lands.

This confirms he is a Dark Lord then, and must have purposefully sought to infiltrate Valinor. I don't dare to guess his intentions...

[–] yngmnwntr@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Doesn't he go to Valinor to die though? He doesn't live forever just because he was a ringbearer, he went for some healing and respite before moving on to the Doom of Hobbits. I always thought the Quest and the Wound caused him to 'die' young, he never healed, he left for Valinor, had a nice peaceful nap in Elvenlands, and died happy.

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

and died

Oh. Not really the "undying lands" then, is it?

[–] yngmnwntr@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It is for Elves, not Hobbits or Men, which is why it was such a big deal he even got invited to chill.

It is for Elves

Aren't elves already immortal?

Yeh this feels a bit of a stretch for someone aging from early 20s to early 40s. A, some people have good genes. B, we tend to notice men’s aging with less weight(ymmv culturally). And, C he’s a millionaire movie star with access to the healthcare that comes with.

[–] LyD@lemmy.ca 32 points 2 years ago

D, both pictures are edited/airbrushed.

I mean he was a kid when he was hired to play Frodo. He seems relatively young cause he still is

18 when cast I think. Born in 81, casting was in 99.

I loved radio flyer and the good son

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Radio Flyer was something when I watched it as a kid. Came for the flying wagon, stayed for chuck chuck bo buck, and was impacted emotionally by the abuse along the way. Some flick.

Don't forget North!

Never forget that Hollywood stars have access to the most expensive & exclusive skin care, trainers, health care, & even plastic surgery, the likes of which we grimy little Proudfeet will never even hear of. Check Cate B out too, she hasn’t aged an hour

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

ProudFOOTS!

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 18 points 2 years ago

I had the biggest crush on him growing up. Stupid sexy hobbitses

[–] doingthestuff@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago

He'll likely be restless by his 111th birthday.

Hasn't aged a day: 47-facts-about-elijah-wood-1691405055

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm very very slightly younger than him and aged the same way. My beard grew in better as I got older and I got a better haircut, but other than a few grey hairs in the beard, a couple of extra pounds, and a slightly changed hairline I'm really similar to the kid in the picture from my boot camp graduation. I expect that to change pretty hard in the next couple of years when all my drinking and hedonism finally catches up to me.

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Yut. Feel like drinking is damaging enough, but then getting up (or just remaining up) to PT the next day is also probably not very good for you. But it was what had to be done.

[–] HowManyNimons@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That isn't the effect it had on Gollum.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's over 500 years, though, no?

[–] Thavron@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 years ago

Yeah even Bilbo looked virtually unchanged for the first 60 years or so.

[–] Alpha71@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Well, I say it's just good genes and nutrition.

However if he still looks like that 100 years from now, then we may need to have a conversation...

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?
