As a fat guy, I would rather give up my seat than have an underage girl face the anxiaty related to being kicked off the plane.
I am 36, I can deal with it, she is 14, she has a lot of growing up to do before she can be thrown into that situation.
Airlines get shittier by the day. So glad I don't travel for work anymore.
They charge $100 extra to support an unaccompanied minor!!?? JFC.
I think that's pretty standard. When I flew as an unaccompanied minor, ages ago, I'm pretty sure we had to pay a little extra because the airline is required to supervise the minor.
A Canadian airline being complete trash, what else is new.
And this is Porter, which in my experience is at least somewhat better than Air Canada.

No surprise that this happened at Pearson to boot. I don't think I've ever had a good experience while flying through there.
Out of curiosity: what causes the weight imbalance on such a plane? I don't follow
If they are removing people from the flight (as opposed to just changing people's seats) the plane is too heavy to takeoff safely in current weather conditions. Usually that means it's too hot outside.
I was in the middle of the response when I remembered that it's a common enough question that I can just link the article that will explain it better than me.
