During the Olympics I was passing through the living room, the wife had been watching an event and it was in between bits. The pole vaulting was on, and my only thought was:
How the hell did this become a sport?

So I looked it up. Numerous cultures from around the world used poles to vault across rivers, and marshy bits. Which ties us into the meme. What they did before was vault....or get thrown

Fording the river was always a good option.

Except in Oregon Trail.

I would like to think of a catapult and net combo to really travel in style.
