There is a quote from Davos awhile back where someone asked the elites how to prevent an uprising they were worried about, and the economist told them 'raise wages'. and the elites just looked at him and ask him for a more practical answer.

"Couldn't we just do one extra pizza party every other year? Peasants like pizza right?"

I’m sure it has nothing to do with any political choices that have been made over the last decade or so.

Links to another news aggregator rather than directly to article. The article is from Sky.

Ground.news is actually pretty cool. It aggregates all articles it finds on a certain topic/headline, attempts to summarise them, highlights the publications political and general biases.

It's a good way to consume news, in my opinion. Besides - it's one extra click to get to any of the associated articles.

This one?

https://news.sky.com/story/rishi-sunak-blames-striking-nhs-workers-for-rising-waiting-lists-12923653

The waiting lists were well beyond awry before anyone took any strikes.

The government’s refusal to negotiate continues to be childish.

Yes peasants fight each other while I let my Crew pocket all that profit.

It used to be worker got fucked and customer got good service, daddy got profit.

Nowadays service is shit, worker is in poverty and daddy got even more profit...

Yeah, but have you seen how cheap TVs are? I mean, barely anything else has gotten better and more affordable, but, like, look at the TVs.

Isn't it great? Now even the poorest of the poors can have 24/7 propaganda beamed directly into their eyeballs in glorious 4k!

They load the clip in, omnicolor, said they pack the nine, fire it at prime time, sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz, and mothafuckas lost their minds

I didn't get those lyrics until I was older...

Just victims of the in-house drive-by They say, "Jump", you say, "How high?"

[-] NuPNuA@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

But when they do well complain in every tabloid that they have the audacity to have a common modern appliance while on benefits.

I saw a single mother with an iPhone... That whore can't be that poor!

[-] angelsomething@lemmy.one 8 points 1 year ago

Sorry for the spelling. I haven’t yet figured out how to edit my own posts on Memmy.

[-] DanglingFury@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You have to have the post open where you can see the comments, then you can click on to find the edit option

I read the post title three times, and I’m still not completely sure I understand it.

Rich dude in charge of government blames government's poor service on striking workers, instead of on the conditions that caused workers to strike in the first place, and at the same time delivers his opinion in a way that shows how disconnected he is from the reality that workers struggle through.

[-] angelsomething@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

Lol that’s on me. Sorry about that. Will try to post better :)

[-] magnetosphere@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

It’s all good!

UK Politics

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
