It's a defensive measure. That way, if someone grabs the end of the bat to take it away, the sock slides off and you've still got your bat

I think he means beat them up while only covering your dick with a tube sock. "Fight like a brave" I could definitely be wrong though. Actually I'm probably wrong, but I still like this explanation.
