The toy company didn't expect the success and wasn't ready to produce action figures in time for the holiday. Read this (some nice web 1.0) or there's countless videos on it.

Oh wow, I completely forgot about these. Like most things in my childhood I had hand-me-downs so I only had a few tattered pieces.

Oh yeah, I remember her mentioning those. I'm not sure if she still has any, but she definitely bought some back in the day.
