Didn't I read the other day that there are thousands of women who think they are having an intense relationship with Jonny Depp on Insta, and have sent him thousands of dollars? Presumably from a starting point like this one.

yeah those people are nuts. Jonhnny told me he was only with me on insta yesterday. he assured me. we're even going on vacation to meet irl for the first time next month! I paid for it and everything!

Romance scams are so evil and predatory, but yeah, lots of lonely not so clued in men and women fall for them.

Interesting, I read an article recently where this happenend with scammers impersonating a not too famous wildlife activist. Same scam but the gist was they choose people like him because "no one would believe Johnny Depp would contact a random person on Insta".
