Got myself Seiko 5 field watch as a starter, the cheapest automatic. Thought I would be ok with minute numbers being bigger than hour numbers but no. Everytime I looked, had to do some mental gymnastics for a second. After a month of this decided to switch it to no numbers at all. Today received the dial, switched it over. Omg, this is so much easier to read.
To me it did look kinda cool at first, I agree, kinda complex, almost like a large detailed chronograph. But then, one of the reasons to buy a wristwatch was to avoid looking at the cellphone to see the time. So eventually, the reality hit and it turned out I am so used to large numbers to be hours(from childhood apparently), it's a habit, an expectation. And those are hard to change. In a way, I gave up coolness for utility :) Thank you for the kind words!
Totally understandable! I have very similar reasons for trading my smart watches for digital casios, and avoiding analog (cause I suck at reading analog watches/clocks lol, it takes me way longer to read than it should)
