Great tutorial! Are there any phones (like maybe fairphones) where you can disconnect the wifi and cell antenna?

Full disclosure, I haven't used any of their products, I am just aware of them. And they are not cheap.

Yeah good idea, but probably only worth for people with quite some money to spare. So the next best option is probably an old laptop where you can just detach the wifi card?

Probably. Or if you are comfortable with hardware mods, you could strip the undesired components out of an old mobile device and seal it back up.

Using a Faraday bag is also an option, but themn it's more of an all-or-nothing proposal for functionality when powered on.
