It's typical of the way he speaks coming from a salesman and promoter background. He says a lot that can't be argued with because there's really nothing there to argue. He also has a confidence and structure around the words that allows people to read things into what he's saying. People supporting him will see him as saying what they believe and people against him will see him saying the opposite of what they believe. In reality, he didn't say anything of substance, but he managed to get both sides worked up. It's very fascinating to see both supporters and opposers get so emotional over things being said that have absolutely no substance. It's a great study in tribalism, group think, and general psychology.
"people against him will see him saying the opposite of what they believe"
No actually we clearly see him saying absolutely nothing and we're just mad that half the population is dumb enough to fall for it.
Exactly. Half the country sees the emperor is naked and insistently say so, but unlike the children's tale, the other half refuse to see it once told.
I should have clarified the "opposers" as the people who have to mention Trump in every conversation and get so physically upset at the very mention of his name. I didn't mean just the people who don't support him.
as an "opposer", I'm not seeing the opposite of what I "believe", I'm seeing useless propaganda being spread and I'd hence be angry at any political sides' source...
this source just happens to be a fountain of misinformation.
if there's nothing to argue, then arguably he hasn't said anything at all. Yeah sure words came out of his mouth but without any coherent meaning behind them, it's just word vomit
And yet people get riled up on both sides because they think he actually said something.
They all are very interesting characters, but I'd prefer them belonging to some mind experiments rather than the reality.
