I'm starting a personal project that involves make a vlog just talking about what my life is like and what I'm up to so I can rewatch it in a few years or show my kids what my life was like when I was younger. I would plan to do these vlogs maybe once a month or so and want to be able to copy it over to an external drive and forget about it the rest of the time. I would prefer not to use cloud storage services. Any recommendations for this use case?

M-Disc

M-DISC's design is intended to provide archival media longevity. M-Disc claims that properly stored M-DISC DVD recordings will last up to 1000 years.

If you want long-term reliability, you don't want spinning rust.

Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.
