One-in-three Canadians is tapping into savings or borrowing to buy food. Those are the latest findings in the Canadian Food Sentiment Index report by Dalhousie University's Agri-Food Analytics Lab. Of those surveyed, food affordability remains the top concern, but transportation is adding to household financial strain. However, when it comes to eating out at restaurants or take-out, the numbers tell a different story with Millennials leading the way with spending the most money.

Can YOU personally, afford to take time off, and potentially lose your job, to protest? In Ontario I get three 'job protected' days off in the year, if I get arrested and miss my Friday-Sunday shift I am fucked. No one is going to risk their home and job to yell, ineffectually, at a bunch of millionaires and politicians.

And even if they did, what would that accomplish? Whether you agree with the convoy or not, they protested. And not only did the government (rightly) ignore them, their accounts were frozen. Even if you could afford to take time off to protest, and even if losing your job was not a risk, that could also happen to you. Especially if the government disagrees with you. Precedent is a nasty thing when you're on the wrong side of it.

That protest worked because it was aligned with the right wing. When was the last time any left leaning ideals have been protested into reality?

Also of note, the Truckers Convoy used violence and terrorism against the populace and that was the excuse for the cops to do nothing like the cowardly douchebags they are.

When was the last protest for climate change that committed acts of violence and terrorism against anyone?

That protest didn't work, though. Vaccine mandates were on their way out already, lockdown restrictions had been over for a while, and Trudeau only resigned in 2025 because he was taking a beating in the polls. That protest could have never happened and events would have otherwise still unfolded as they did, except downtown Ottawa would have been quieter.

Violence? Far as I know, never. Terrorism? I'd argue the 2020 rail blockade qualifies. Which goes directly to my point - did those protestors have their accounts frozen? No. Because Trudeau agreed with them. Put Harper in charge instead and that goes differently.

The people skipping meals are busy working second jobs at hello fresh where they are abused and denied bathroom breaks.

Ok then. Let's all starve and lose our homes anyway in silence then.

Funny I don't see you out there collecting souls to resolve the problems for the citizenry.

I totally get the urge, but protesting is a waste of time in 2026. So unless you're preaching violence and acting upon that ideal yourself, you and I and most of the rest of us will sit idly by effectively powerless but to watch what happens next.
