The Wall Street Journal had reported that Ukraine had given in to pressure from the White House to stop bombing Russian energy infrastructure.

Ukrainian officials, however, told the Kyiv Independent newspaper that they never agreed to a demand from Jared Kushner, the US president’s son-in-law, to pause refinery strikes for 30 days. The raids on Russia restarted on Friday, Kremlin officials said, complaining that Kyiv was now “simply ignoring” US wishes.

Trump has blamed the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for the rise in global fuel prices, and last month lifted US sanctions on Russian diesel.

Ukraine is doing math here. If they stop, trump may be seen as peace maker and wins votes. Trump is a putin ally basically at this point. If they go on they weaken their enemy AND may shift elections to a more moderate candidate in the US by elevated gas prices.

Of course this could go tits up if they lose international support. Destruction of northstream might have helped anti ukraine parties rise in germany. But regarding infrastructure inside russia i think they can only win.

Lol at the idea of Germany giving up on Ukraine, they will deserve the Russian invasion at that point if they do

Isn't AfD the largest party in Germany now? They're pro-Russia

Hmmm let me take two seconds to google this

Unfortunately Germans tend to get very dense when it gets to some political stuff. 🌝

Some simply don’t get what is so controversial about building Nordstream in the first place and how it undermines their independence (and I don’t just mean energy independence).

They have Gerhard Schröder as a clearest example of someone given a share in Russian gas sales, but Nordstream is just “two countries doing business, is buying energy from France also undermining our independence?”.

At this point?

At what point wasn't he?

I hate to give him some small credit, but they have sent weapons and intelligence even during this term, even if it has been up and down.

He said weapons and intelligence

Your source is talking about humanitarian aid

The Trump administration stopped humanitarian aid, but is still supplying weapons and intelligence most of the time

Yes, they have sent intelligence and yes, they have sent weapons even if they haven't paid for them themselves. The USA was doing much more before, but it could be much worse with them restricting access to their military industrial complex.

So lets be real about what they still do and allow, Ukraine would be in more trouble without access to e.g. new Patriot missiles. But without forgetting about the USA being unreliable, untrustworthy and treacherous to point of it not supporting its own allies.

Wow that is just... Uncanny...
