Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
😇 Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
🏘️ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
🧬 Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
📋 Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
📬 Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.
-
🏴☠️ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

🍿 Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

You're mixing things up, maybe because I'm not clear or maybe consciously. It's probably the first. I hope.
What most Christians believe is that one can be saved without believing, and I proved that citing official Catholic texts. Maybe these texts aren't true to the Bible, but that is of no consequence, they're still a proof that most Christians believe what I said. The first question was not “can non-Christian be saved?” it was “do Christians believe that non-Christian can be saved?” and these are two different things.
Now, about the Bible, I did not contradict myself. Let's take an other text: The Capital by Marx and Engels. It's not a simple text: to understand it wholly, you must have a strong economical, philosophical and historical culture. It needs time, efforts, and this text is still debated today, as there are different legitimate interpretations. But even without them, you can read it and some things will be clear, for example that capitalism should be fought. A text can be difficult on its parts and clear on the whole on a few subjects.
It's the case with the Bible. That the Law is not eternal is very clear, so if you see a text that says the contrary it should either be dismissed as a text contradicting the whole message, or interpreted to find the actual message.
You didn't prove anything. Depending on what statistic you're looking at, Catholics aren't even a majority of Christians, but even if they are, do you honestly think all Catholics follow the "official Catholic texts"? Catholicism is famously one of the more contentious Christian sects, and always has groups that disagree with the Pope and their leadership.
Again, it isn't, or else this entire thread wouldn't be happening, and the constant arguments among biblical scholars about that very verse wouldn't be happening.
Lol. In other words, "have blind faith"?
If that's your argument, you aren't making it in good faith, and I have no interest in continuing further.
Yes, Catholics can be “contentious,” but the text I cited wasn’t an encyclical. Not all texts carry the same authority: teachings affirmed by a council are binding on all Catholics. There are exceptions, of course, but even the most traditionalist Catholics try to interpret these texts in ways that allow non-Catholics to be saved under very exceptional circumstances. They can’t reject the teachings outright without being considered heretical. If we include mainline and liberal Protestants, that clearly makes a majority.
Find me one non-fundamentalist biblical scholar who holds this position. I’ll wait, since this isn’t up for debate. Scholars debate when, how, and why particular laws changed, and what those developments mean, not the existence of these changes. If you don’t approach the Bible as the inerrant word of God (a view rejected by most Christians, even in the very fundamentalist-friendly United States) it’s clear that the Old Testament laws consciously contradict one another: they respond to one another. So the laws can't be eternal, as within the Pentateuch itself they aren't!
I didn't said that at all, you're distorting what I'm saying. Why is it so hard to have honest exchange of view on this subject on Lemmy?
I'll give an other example from The Capital. That's what Marx wrote in the chapter 15 of the volume III:
Here, Marx is praising capitalism, because it develops the productive forces. If I used this quote to say that The Capital is pro-capitalism, or not clearly anti-capitalist, you'd say that I understood nothing or was arguing in bad faith. And you'd be right accusing me of that, as The Capital is anti-capitalist at its core. Of course, that don't work with less clear subjects.
I just ask you to give the Bible the same treatment as any other book.
Yeah I don't think you really understand what I'm trying to say, and I don't know how to make it any more clear. Agree to disagree I guess
If I’m missing the point in your opinion, it’s surely because I genuinely don’t understand, you’re right. Sorry if that’s the case.
Agree to disagree is often a sane conclusion.
(Sorry for the deleted comment too, it was for an other thread.)
