Why would you willingly associate with a culture that consistently produces militant sects? Don't you understand how it's the same texts you were indoctrinated with that lead those people to those conclusions? Multiple readings and all. When you write gibberish, anyone can see whatever they want in it. So they see precisely whatever is most convenient to them, then they act shocked when "a few rotten apples" take the text to the letter and see something entirely different. Maybe if God's word was actually absolute we wouldn't have three competing major interpretations of it, each splintered into a myriad of contradictory sects.

And no, this is not a recent thing. Those insane religions and the deaths they caused are what half of all history is about. It will keep repeating for as long as these unfalsifiable fairy tales are used to retroactively justify power grabs.
