Taken a nice photo of your creation? We highly encourage sharing with our friends over at !foodporn@lemmy.world.
Posts in this community must be food/cooking related. Recipes for dishes you've made and post picture of are encouraged but are not a requirement. Posts of food you are enjoyed or just think like food are welcomed as well.
Posts can optionally be tagged. We would like the use and number of tags to grow organically. Feel free to use a tag that isn't listed if you think it makes sense to do so. We encourage using tags to help organize and make browsing easier, but you don't have to use them if you don't want to.

Is this the new “dinner diaries” thing where people post shitty food and then tell their sob story? I thought we were above that sort of thing here in Lemmy.
McSquidish is a regular poster here. A little bit of personal color is just fine and helps keep this building in the direction of a community, not a lifeless recipe repository. My two cents.
Ok cool.
I think here on Lemmy, it's okay enough to let people provide backstory to what they made. It's not really like on Reddit where people are so incentivized to make up sob stories, and it might make things more personal in a way that's not possible on larger social media.
Everyone kind of knows everyone, and if we start seeing 5 posts a day of "Dear Lemmy, my entire family has bone-itis, so I made bone broth in defiance of the horrible disease that took my sister last week. Please donate to [not a fake GoFundMe campaign] to support bone-itis research", it's always possible to ban it. Plus pretty much everything here shows up on the front page, so it's not really outcompeting the other posts for attention that much.
I broadly empathize with your point – because I also saw Reddit turning into trash with every fourth post being "AITA"-style engagement bait – with the exceptions that a) I just don't think it's worth getting vocally upset about here unless it becomes common, and b) I beg to differ: the food in the OP looks yum.
Good points. Appreciate the levelheaded response.
If this space is going to be a popular, self sustaining, lively alternative to all the corporate, fascist owned , social media, then we have to accommodate all kinds of content. IMHO as long as it isn’t a bot, AI or a scam, let it be.
Oh, you and your reasonable takes!
It’s taking the piss out of that. I thought it was from the photo but the post is actually about the food.
If cooking does start getting drama queen stories I’ll be blocking.
Oh! Haha
