I was on Lemmy for about a month before I figured out the whole .ml thing. I'm honestly surprised it took that long.
Same. For my first month here I thought tankies were MAGA. To the untrained eye, it can be easy to confuse the two, until you look again. They're just as ignorant and dumb.
To the untrained eye indeed. Horseshoe theory is the go to for anyone too lazy to try to actually learn anything about history or politics that's not drip fed by their corporate overlords.
I think there's a lot to be said for critiquing the flaws of our democracy, but doing so by adhering yourself to even worse authoritarian types is wild to me.
They are virtually the same when it comes to how loathsome they are. The biggest difference is one of them has the strength of conviction to stand on their ignorance and commit to it, the other just likes to play pretend on the internet.

While at least red MAGAts proudly defend their evils.
Giving MAGA credit for being anything but completely and utterly braindead is a wild take. Good job losing what was left of the tiny credibility you had.
