There are 450,000 infections each year in the US including 240,000 cases that do not respond to regular treatment

Cases of the highly contagious and often drug-resistant bacterial disease, Shigella, are rising across the U.S., with dozens of doctors issuing warnings.

Shigella infections, known as shigellosis, can cause bloody diarrhea, dysentery, fever, vomiting, dehydration, stomach cramps, seizures, blood infections and in rare cases, death.

Experts have long been aware that drug-resistant strains of Shigella disproportionately cause severe illness in children under the age of 5. But doctors from health departments across the U.S. announced in April that white men are now the most susceptible to infections from drug resistant Shigella.

That findings could change the way hospitals respond to the pervasive illness, the doctors noted in a federal report.

Off topic, but this made me remember about the guy charging $50k an ass to teach Trump's administration how to not wipe after pooping...

Dr. Sean O’Mara, an emergency medicine physician-turned health optimization expert who is followed by RFK Jr. and JD Vance, developed what he calls a “living carnivore diet,” which focuses on grass-fed meat and fermented foods while cutting out sugar, alcohol, and processed foods.

According to O’Mara, the benefits go beyond general health improvements. “When you start eating healthy, you don’t need toilet paper,” O’Mara told the New York Times Magazine. “Animals in the wild have no residual stool on their anus.” It comes after RFK Jr. was slammed by doctors after chugging 'dangerous' milk with a controversial influencer.

O’Mara, who has followed the plan for about a decade, said the diet has completely changed his own digestion. “I could have a bowel movement behind a sheet at a dinner party in the corner of the room,” he said, “and nobody would know.”

A guy who literally thinks his shit doesn't stink. Fabulous.
