Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes

This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:

[BB] This enemy is so difficult!

or

[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

I might hop back on Elden Ring if we find the time to do so. We are still in that Northwest area of the DLC (still no clue what it's called) and killed that butterfly boss. Next thing on the agenda is probably Messmer since that seems to be the next necessary step. Probably a little more exploration along the way to grab some more Scadutree Fragments.

As iconic as bosses are by themselves, they're only as good as the boss arena is. What's your favourite one?

Beating the valiant gargoyles at RL1 sounds like an utterly miserable experience, credit to you for prevailing. It's a shame about Placi not working well in that arena, they definitely have that final boss spectacle going on even if they're nowhere near as difficult to actually take on as PCR. It's even kinda fun lore-wise, like they finally accepted that their god is never returning and so they must become one themselves
