This pull request was merged a couple weeks ago that subtly renders street lamps as "a simple dot with halo". Stable versions of Carto seem to be released roughly twice a year, and this one just missed the latest cutoff (v6.1.0 was released three weeks ago). Still, if you don't typically add street lamps because they don't show up on e.g. Carto, now's a good time so they show up on the next release.

For those unfamiliar with the name, Carto is the default rendering style you see at openstreetmap.org.

Nah don't worry about it.

If that was the case, adding the tags light_count= and lamp_mount= as well as the ref= on the pole (as suggested on the wiki) would make no sense.
Also the lights are so close together that mapping them seperatly is ridicoulus.
It also clashes with the common understanding of the word 'street light', which obviously doesn't refer to a single led in the lamp.
What even counts as light? A single led? A group of leds in a housing?

And finally, there is ultimately no right or wrong in OSM. As long as it exists in the present in public you can map it. If you want to map individiual lights and put them in a relation with the pole, knock yourself out. But if you don't then don't
