The band was at the time managed by Alexander Bard of Army of Lovers, who co-wrote and co-produced their first two albums with Anders Hansson and some other dudes. Bard appears in the video as the camera operator.

The song borrows the chorus sample and its vocal melody from Sheila & B. Devotion's ‘Spacer’.

One of those songs you heard dozens of times but never knew (or cared to know) who's behind it. It also sounds like a dozen other songs you heard before.

Not that it's bad.

I recently opened Army of Lovers' wkipedia page. A. Bard seems very prolific, a true successor to (whoever was most prolific at) ABBA.

His biography is quite something too.

While living in Amsterdam, he earned part of his living as a sex worker. Bard returned to Sweden to study at the Stockholm School of Economics from 1984 to 1989. In addition to his studies in economics, he took a strong interest in philosophy and social theory with the explicit aim of becoming a philosophy writer and lecturer.

Bard began his musical career in 1982 with the single ‘Life in a Goldfish Bowl’ released under the name Baard, a synth-punk fusion project he had formed together with two female striptease dancers.

After Army of Lovers, he's had three bands, of which Vacuum seems the closest to the old sound (despite the rather different mood) — or maybe they're just familiar from the TV of my youth.

And, as planned, he also went into philosophy, gave public talks since 1997, and published seven books starting in 2000, all with coauthor Jan Söderqvist. He has something of a quasi-religious movement called Syntheism, focused on participatory culture.

Every time you respond to one of my comments, Piefed shows me your actual username and it always makes me gag.

Btw, if you dig ABBA, check out Alla Pugacheva's ‘Watch Out’ and see if there's something wonky about its backstory.
